The Diploma in Business Administration

Programme Goals 
The American International Business School’s Diploma in Business Administration (DBA) Programme provides a strong foundation in business training and has been designed as the equivalent to the first year of study in a Bachelor of Business Administration. Upon graduating, the student will have learned the essential skills needed to thrive in a business environment. The Diploma in Business Administration Programme (DBA) introduces you to the fundamentals needed to succeed in business management, including accounting, finance, marketing concepts, and interpersonal skills.
The programme will broaden the students’ cultural knowledge, improve communications skills, enhance writing and numeric skills and help develop an understanding of basic business concepts. Achievement of the objectives of this programme of study will prepare students for further BBA study on an Advanced Diploma (2nd Year) programme.

Programme Structure
The program is an eight-module program spread over a time frame convenient to the student. Each module contains 10 study units which are designed to contain a minimum of 3 ½ hours of content each and to be taken once a week resulting in 35 contact or “in the electronic classroom” hours. This schedule may be accelerated if the student achieves specified academic standards and the module tutor gives permission. Students enrolled for 4 modules simultaneously will be considered “full time” and will attract financial discounts. Students may not enroll for more than 4 modules at a time. If a student selects to attend college full time they will complete their Diploma in Tourism Management Programme studies in aproximately 20 weeks. In total students will receive 350 hours of electronic tuition. Each study unit is assessed on-line and AIBS requires students to complete a final comprehensive written examination, which is conducted externally.

  3. Promote in each student a sensitivity and appreciation for living in a diverse, multicultural society

  4. Create in each student an understand of the theory and practice of specific functional management areas

  5. Create in each student an understand of d how to plan effectively, solve organizational problems and contribute towards making management decisions

  6. Apply specific functional management skills to increase the productivity and business efficiency of their areas of responsibility

  7. Encourage students to assume higher levels of responsibility within specific functional management areas as a result of newly acquired/improved skills

  8. Foster and improve each student's expressive, analytical, and communication skills through writing assignments and class discussions

  9. Foster and improve each student's use of computer skills and technology through active interaction with the Internet and computer software

Entry requirements
In addition to the standard admissions requirements of the school (Found on the application form) applicants must have:
  • A US High School diploma from a recognized institution, or;
  • 4 GCSEs (o Levels) at grade C or better, or
  • An Indian grade 11 of their Highers, or
  • An equivalent internationally recognized academic certificate

If the student's first language is not English they will need:

  • A minimum IELTS score of 5.0 or
  • A minimum TOEL score of 475 (or a TOEFL - CBT of 150)
  • A Cambridge 1st certificate of Pass
