Our AIBS Online team consists of long-serving education
specialists, who
decided to share their ideal of accessible, affordable and appropriate
education with you. In our online programmes, we aim to inspire and not just
educate you. AIBS Online, unlike most other e-learning providers, focuses on
the quality of the educational content providing fully online higher education
courses without the need for our students to attend classes in a physical
campus. We believe our product to be better than that of our competitors
because we place a great emphasis on limiting the so called “learner
isolation” prevailing in e-learning. We are proactive in our approach to
nurture students in their education and through our philosophy of customer
satisfaction and honesty first and profit generation second we can offer
students competent, almost instantaneous and inspiring information to maintain
their interest and motivation. This is especially true of the markets where we
see our products being employed, where education is very much teacher- and not
learner-centred, and very little student–teacher interaction is encouraged. We
feel that students can expand their knowledge through the use of our services
in a non-threatening way to their established teaching environment.
Our Staff
It is the people at AIBS Online who will make your education a wonderful
journey of exploration. We don’t agree with working our way around technology,
we want technology to work around us. So even though your experience will be
virtual, you will always have wonderful people available at the click of the
button all the way through your studies and then some. All of the AIBS Online
staff are university lecturers, as we believe that it’s not just the fancy
technology but the content that students want out of their online education.

Marshall G. Hall
AIBS Online Founder
|
Joanna Oman
AIBS Online Co-founder
|
Marshall G. Hall has been working on the idea of developing an
online learning institution for many years now, and after spending countless
hours talking about why this is the way of the future, and frustrating
everyone in the office about it, he finally got the time and courage to do it.
With a strong background in Media and Technology and the (annoying, but great
really) streak to be the Teacher of the Year (every year) he is well placed to
lead AIBS Online.
Marshall has this theory about the 3As of education: Accessible, Affordable
and Appropriate. See opposite. As an academic first, and businessman second, he wants AIBS
Online to spread this idea to all the eager students who want to learn beyond
the traditional (and sometimes ineffective) ways of today.
During his many years with the American Intercontinental University (formerly
The American College in London) he was voted “Best Faculty Member” (1994),
“Most Outstanding Teacher” (1996) and was awarded the “SGA Leadership Award”
(2000) by the Student Government Association.
A desired Speaker at many international conferences a recent invite took him
to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia (2007) where he presented the Queen of Malaysia
with an honorary doctorate degree.
With many executive roles, academic and business achievements, and notable
publications behind him Marshall can draw on this extensive experience and
network of professional friends in academia to enhance the reach and quality
of AIBS Online. Just some of the institutions he has been a part of include
Nord Anglia Education plc, London Media Educational Consultants, London School
of Business and Management, the American Intercontinental University, the
University of Cincinnati, and the University of Michigan.
Joanna Oman toyed with
the idea of international virtual education during her postgraduate studies,
where she pursued the multimedia approach to teaching with plans to take part
in virtual teaching projects in Alexandria, Egypt on graduation. Instead she
joined the lecturing team in a London based university. A self-professed
computer whizz kid, she continued to engage students in homemade virtual
environments and activities while teaching in a traditional classroom.
She believes in combining a steady, disciplined approach to learning (and
working, which is tough on the more laid back people in the office!) and
making use of cutting-edge technology to keep students engaged. Joanna thinks
the best student is one who never ceases to be amazed at the world around them
and she designs AIBS Online virtual activities to allow students to maintain
that state of wonder.
The institutions she worked for include Thames Valley University, School of
Oriental and African Studies, London School of Business and Management,
Middlesex University and the London Institute of Education (University of
Arts).
